April Maybe May are Rosie Hillman and Matt Kassell. They began their musical career as solo artists and met in 2003 at a songwriters group in their home town of Barrow-In-Furness, Cumbria. They started working together as a band in 2005, and released 3 EPs under the name Fallen Leaves. A truly independent band, Rosie and Matt write, perform, record and produce their music from their home studio, as well as doing their own artwork, photography, publicity and tour management.

In 2009 the band were forced to change their name after discovering London punks The Fallen Leaves had released their own album and were dominating Google. April Maybe May was the new name, and came about as a reply to when Rosie and Matt’s album would be ready.

And so it was, in May 2009, that the 11-track debut CD was given its initial release, a short run selling locally and at the band's many UK-wide gigs. Reviews were favourable, and the album was given a full national release through Crash records the following year.

April Maybe May are currently working on a soundtrack album for the independent film 'The Bell Pool', and are due to release a new EP on their own Seahouse label. The band also had a song featured on the Rainboot label's charity Christmas record in 2010, and will be releasing exclusive download material with Rainboot this year.

“The band’s soft, warm, occasionally jazz-inflected music floats out of the speakers like meringues on custard. If Radox sold music, it would sound like this.”
